1. Each modem has a band specification.
3G WCDMA band: 2100Mhz, 850Mhz, 1900Mhz, 900Mhz
2G GSM band: 850Mhz, 900Mhz, 1800Mhz, 1900Mhz.

Each modem/dongle/cellphone/device requires a SIM card to work.
Normally the modem cannot support all band of 3G WCDMA, normally should be the following choice:
3G single band + gsm dual band;
3G single band + gsm quad band;
3G dual band + gsm quad band;
3G tri band + gsm quad band;


3G CDMA2000 EVDO band: 800Mhz, 1900Mhz, 450Mhz
2G CDMA1x band: 800Mhz, 1900Mhz, 450Mhz
CDMA1x and CDMA2000 has two types. One is with UIM card, the other is without UIM card, but need write number into modem/dongle/cellphone/device.

2. Each modem contains IMEI, the unique number from the world. It’s the cellular device’s ID.
A few of network carrier requires IMEI when the modem dialup to networks. But most no need.

3. If the modem works with sim card or uim card, the card should support Data Business and has enough balance.
Sim card/uim card has Voice Business, Data Business, and SMS Business. So if you want internet, the sim/uim card requires Data Business available.
